Information about our generator connection boxes 100% MADE IN GERMANY ❤
When do you need a generator connection box?
The generator connection box, GAK for short, is used to connect the
Solar system to the inverter .
The strands (also called strings) of the solar generator run here
(solar panels) together and become the direct current main line. In the GAK
Safety elements are also integrated (MPP / surge protection).
Protect against overvoltage, for example after lightning strikes nearby.
Does every generator connection box fit every inverter?
Yes , all of our generator connection boxes are compatible with all inverters.
The only thing to pay attention to is whether MC-4 solar connectors are mounted on the inverter, in this case all of our MC-4 generator connection boxes are compatible.
However, if the inverter is suitable for directly connecting the solar cables , then so
All of our PROFI-LINE generator connection boxes are compatible, and with high-quality push-in terminals from WAGO / PHOENIX they are the right choice.
Is a generator connection box mandatory?
Yes , the installation of a surge protector (MPP) in a generator connection box in PV systems has been required by the VDE standards 0100-443 and 0100-534 since October 1, 2016 .
The transition period ends on December 14, 2018 and the standards are mandatory. This applies to new PV systems as well as to conversions and expansions of solar systems.
What does MC-4 generator junction box mean?
MC-4 is a standardized solar connection extender and is often used on solar panels. The MC-4 connector is also used as a solar extension cable to lead the solar cables from the panels to the inverter in strings (cable packages). With MC-4 generator connection boxes, you only have to plug the MC-4 connectors into the generator connection box and you are ready to start up without the hassle of stripping and connecting the solar cables.
What does PROFILINE generator connection box mean?
Our PROFLINE generator connection boxes are connection boxes in which the solar cables (stings) are inserted directly into the generator connection box and are connected directly via WAGO or PHOENIX-CONTACT PUSH IN terminals.
What does string mean?
A string is the series connection of photovoltaic modules .
A string always consists of 2 lines (plus and minus). The string lines are laid from the solar panels to the generator connection box and from there connected to the inverter and to the DC input of the inverter.
What does T1+T2 or T2 mean in MPP / DC surge protection?
Class T2 lightning protection is the basic protection and therefore the minimum requirement for lightning strike protection for your inverter. The so-called combination arrester T1+T2 is this
The highest form of protection is fine and coarse protection. The price difference is small, so you should always choose the highest quality protection for your solar system.
Are MC-4 plugs & PHOENIX - SUNCLIX plugs compatible
No, the TÜV-certified solar connector PHOENIX-SUNCLIX is suitable for typical photovoltaic cables and transmits a current of up to 40 A at up to 1100 V.
❗ The SUNCLIX connectors fit together but do not fit on MC4 connectors ❗
